ABOUT DamDamgak

Built around 1930, this site has recently been converted into the Ganghwa Hanok Culture Research Institute to accommodate visitors looking for an authentic Korean experience in a traditional setting with Western comfort and facilities. Over the years, all features of a traditional (Hanok) cottage have been kept and restored by local craft makers, like the fire place, the beams, the flooring etc. and has only been open to the public at the end of 2012.

The rental concept is to give the exclusive use of the whole premises to one visitor at a time by renting the whole area and not just sleeping rooms.

This place is dedicated to visitors wishing to relax and appreciate the quietness of the place and make use of it as a healing and no-stress home for one or few days. A stay in Damdamgak is a unique experience for understanding Korean traditional architecture, surrounded by 6000 m2 of gardens, fish ponds and rice-fields.
